Health & Wellness Expanded in Village

Starting this Saturday, June 11th, from 9am – 10am, the Village of Greenwood Lake is expanding our recreation and health & wellness program. We will be offering FREE Zumba and Yoga classes at the Thomas P. Morahan Waterfront Park at the end of Windermere. The classes are open to anyone who would like to participate no matter your skill levels. Zumba will be held every Saturday morning at 9am throughout the summer and Yoga will be every other Tuesday (time TBD). For further details, check back on the Village calendar on our website at http://www.villageofgreenwoodlake.org, or reach out to program coordinator, Trustee Katheleen Holder at katheleen@villageofgreenwoodlake.org. I would like to send a thank you out to Wells Fargo Advisor and community resident Eric Kohlmeier, for sponsoring the Zumba program in the Village.

Solution to Lead and Copper Levels

As the public is aware, the Village Board has been working diligently over the past year working to resolve elevated lead and copper levels found through a vigorous testing pattern we have undergone. The best available technology identified for this purpose is a blended solution called Poly-Orthophosphate. Since identifying this technology, we have since received approvals from both the Dept. of Health and the DEC to use this process. We will begin introducing Ortho-Polyphosphate within the next couple of weeks. The blended chemical will coat the internal plumbing of a home in such a way it will not permit lead and copper from the internal plumbing to loosen up and enter the water you may consume. This chemical has been used for decades and is used in almost every municipal drinking water system similar to ours. During the implementation stages of this chemical, there is a slight chance to notice water quality alterations such as brief spells of discolored water. We will be monitoring the water system very closely and carefully but we will rely on the users, you, to let us know if you notice any changes. If you notice any negative or questionable changes to your water quality during this transition, please contact Village Hall at 845-477-9215. If you have any questions about this process, or would like more details on the chemical, you may email me at mayor@villageofgreenwoodlake.org. Thank you all for your patience during this process. The light at the end of the tunnel is near.
