Progress for GWL’s Teen Center
I hope that by now, every parent and teen in Greenwood Lake knows that we have a teen center. In fact, the teen center has done so well since opening last year, we have outgrown the size of our current host – the Holy Rosary Church. The new teen center, beginning Wednesday, May 14th, will be hosted by the Greenwood Lake Elks in the spacious Elk’s Lodge.
The hall and outdoor pavilion will be open for students between 6th through 12th grades. The new space will allow for a more diverse age group as there will be much more space to divide up ages, for obvious reasons. There will be games, BBQ’s, socializing, and an opportunity to hang out with friends at the incredible grounds of the Lodge. The time remains 6:00p.m. – 9:00p.m.
I must acknowledge the generosity that has been afforded by the Holy Rosary Church and Church Council in permitting the Teen Center to be housed in their Church. They have been extremely gracious and we owe the success of the Teen Center to the fact that they were willing to open up their doors for this program. In addition, I would like to thank the GWL Elks for their continuous support of our youth. This is just one more step that they are taking to ensure that the youth in Greenwood Lake are given every opportunity to lead positive lives.
And finally, I would like to send out thanks and appreciation to those who make this Teen Center possible – the volunteers of the Greenwood Lake Coalition, specifically Joan Devine, Ralph and Christine Conetta, Clarissa Trapani, Shana Loven, Rosa Ferrara Walter Cisek and Pam Jennings. Without our dedicated volunteers, there would not be a Teen Center.
