Mayor Dwyer’s Column
From the GWL Mayor’s
By Jesse Dwyer
This past week was not only a busy week for GWL, it was a special week filled with many notable events. First, The Greenwood Lake Coalition sponsored a Teen Night at the waterfront park. This event was a huge success with nearly 80 teens confirmed in attendance. We are looking forward to hosting many more events similar to this for our youth at the beach. Stay tuned for more. Special thanks go out to the Elks who provided the food, John Corcoran for sound, Bill Sahler for the volleyball net, and of course, the dedicated members of the Coalition. We also thank the GL Fire Dept for providing us with lights.
On Saturday, we celebrated the life and legacy of the late Brian Bennett, a true Laker and true leader within our community. The Town of Warwick and Village of Greenwood Lake dedicated the newest softball field within our Village to Brian and his family at a very nice and well attended event at the field. Brian will always be remembered by his peers, family and those who were lucky enough to have known him, but now, he will be remembered by all who enjoy the sport he loved, and the sport he fostered in our Village – Girls Softball.
Saturday night was a great night in the Village. Our Greenwood Lake Gaelic Cultural Society hosted the annual Irish Night at the beach. I would like to send out a special thank you to the Gaelic Society for all they do in our community and also around the world. They are truly a unique organization and their positive contributions are felt internationally.
