Water Plant Finally Has SPDES Permit
For many months during my campaign for Mayor, you may have heard my discontent over the fact that our Village water plant had been illegally discharging backwash water from the plant for years, even after all of the costly upgrades. After four months of working to comply with DEC regulations and eliminating a certain chemical usage in the plant, the weed facilitating chemical, ortho polyphosphate, which is also banned in the village, we have finally received permits to safely and legally discharge the backwash water from the plant.
Board Meetings and Extended Hours
The Village Board voted at the last meeting to have only one Board meeting per month. Village Board meetings will now be held on the third Monday of each month, same time and place. On the first Monday of each month, Village Hall will be extending hours for Building Dept., Clerk’s office and Mayor’s office from 4-7pm. This added service to our working class community will be done without additional costs to the tax payers.
Teen Night at the Beach
This Wednesday, August 21, GWL will host its teen night from 6-9pm. The beach will be open to swimming after hours for local teens who may also hang out, play volleyball and listen to music provided by professional D.J. John Corcoran who is donating his time at our beautiful waterfront park. This event is sponsored by the Greenwood Lake Coalition.
The Weed harvester blew a starter last week. It has been order and should be replaced this week. The summer is not over and we will work to manage the weeds as best we can until the weather cools down for the season.
