A Week Full of Positive Meetings

Last week, I had the pleasure of attending the newly revived GL Historical Society. An engaged and informative session was held at the Continental on the Lake and this group will be meeting once a month (last Thursday of each month) to discuss and preserve GL’s rich history.

On Thursday, in a meeting at Village Hall, we set the groundwork for starting an environmental program for youth and adults here in the Village. Meeting with Donald “Doc” Bayne, a retired Sterling Forest Park Ranger, Katy Boula, a current NYC Park Ranger, and John Irrizary, an active environmentalist, we will begin setting up different programs in and around the Village toward outdoor activities and appreciation of the great things that our community’s environment has to offer outdoor enthusiasts.

Col. John Graham, PhD, Chief Scientist at West Point, joined Village Attorney John Buckheit and me at Village hall for a meeting to discuss ways in which GL can team up with West Point to conduct research toward the revitalization and saving of our Lake and lake maintenance issues. A very exciting meeting with enormous potential for GL. Col Graham grew up in Greenwood Lake and is actively involved in implementing programs of this nature. More to come as the program develops.

Chip Sealing & Repairing Roads

The DPW has completed the Victory Acres section this past week and by now, they will have completed Lakelands and will begin working on the back roads south of Jersey Avenue.

Weed Harvesting

The weed harvester is fully repaired and will continue operating this week.

hi is there some online GWL site which would be designated as a monthly information board for all GWL meetings, events, merchant’s guild meetings etc. There may already be such, but I am unaware.thank you
