Mayor Dwyer’s Column
Attending the recent Village Planning Board meeting, there seemed to be apparent concerns from our residents in and around the Wah Ta Wah Park area. Those of us in attendance heard of a proposal to put a cellular tower on private property near the Park. The public’s concerns seemed quite valid as the preliminary plans to date are looking to impact the park quite dramatically by utilizing Park roads as access to the tower, and also having the tower located near the park. Valid questions were raised by our Planning Board members, as well as the community. I know that the Planning Board and our Village Board will seek to have those questions answered quickly to eliminate the possibility of burdening our residents and restricting the character of our beautiful scenic mountains.
I would like to extend my thanks to the GL Lions Club for yet another sponsorship of the annual Lions Club Family Carnival held at Elks Dr. Although there will always be challenges with this carnival, it is a wonderful thing for our community and I hope everyone understands how difficult it has become for our civic organizations to pull off such events with the limited resources and limited volunteers at hand. I would like to commend all of our organizations who operate with volunteers and donations to continue making GWL the best community around.
Last week, I was proud to meet with a couple individuals interested in reviving the GWL Historical Society. Meetings will be posted soon but if you would like to be involved in reliving and sharing GL’s cherished history, please contact Village Hall for more details.
